Save Our Seas ...

Students were involved in a unit "Save Our Seas". The unit included three weeks of activities across the curriculum. Each student had to adopt something from the ocean that needed our protection.

Reading: Snippets of information from 30 different sources were read about oceans, ocean life, endangered animals and what could be done to save the planet.

Vocabulary: Students were assigned related words to study, the test was a crossword designed at puzzlemaker.com

Science: Experiments about the oceans and ocean life, including those suggested by Sea World were conducted.

Math: How many gallons of water are needed to house the orcas at Sea World? How much does it cost to feed one penguin?

Research: 50 Facts on a Ring (research report in which facts are assembled, written one fact on a note card, grouped as the answer to one of three questions and then hung on a metal ring)

Oral Language: A speech is given.

Art: A three dimensional poster is created

Expository Language: A blog was created. A free blog can be created by going to blogger.com

NOTE: Blogs are on-line journal pages. As an entry is made the previous entry continues to be printed below the new addition. The students are not able to be contacted although readers are allowed to post comments.
